I’m not sure that I can convey just how excited I am about our dining room makeover in words here on the blog! This has been a long time coming. Since we moved into our home two and a half years ago I’ve been itching to spruce up our dining room! I dreamed of a space that was bright, romantic and airy with neutrals and small pops of color, maybe a mix of rustic and modern. Teaming up with World Market made my dining room dream come true. We are loving the new space!
Our home doesn’t have a separate dining room, so when you walk into our front door the dining room is actually one of the first things you see. First impressions are the most important, right? So we wanted to be sure that the dining room was inviting and comfortable. And, I’m pretty sure that we’ve achieved both. With not a lot of storage in this room or in our kitchen, we needed to bring in a side table that could hold everything from drinks and linens to cookbooks and glasses. The Aiden console table was the perfect addition and you’ll see why in the photos below.
My obsession with cloth napkins is real and going strong. I’ve got all different colors and prints and they really help to bring a bit of color into our neutral decor. This table has proven to be the perfect addition, I added an old milk crate that was passed down from my Grandma and filled it with our favorite adult beverages and Matt’s Pilsner glasses, and next to it (on the floor) is a hexagon wine rack that is sadly quite empty right now. Having enough space to store serving bowls was important as well (again, because of the lack of storage in our kitchen). While I love the idea of a bar cart, we just don’t have room in our home, so the table also serves that purpose well. On top sit our drink glasses, coasters, everything we need to make cocktails, a simple vase holder, and more bowls.
Purple is one of my favorites right now and I’m excited to bring a bit into our home for fall! The color is soft and romantic and pleasing to the eye. And, I happen to think it looks great with our dark wood table and vintage, rustic chairs. One of my very favorite things about this dining room makeover is our beautiful new Nantucket Tableware. The dinner plates, salad plates and large serving bowl are simple, and exactly what I have been looking for.
A slate cheeseboard is very necessary on our table, considering that we live in the land of cheese. How fun to be able to write on the board to let your guests know what kind of cheese they’re looking at?
All of the different wood elements play right into my idea for neutral colors. One of my favorite neutral accents are the Sawyer Flatware and Serverware. The flatware looks great with the purple and the dark wood, especially when set on the Purple Geo Napkins. Again, small pops of color can make such a big difference in a room.
Two of the biggest changes in this room were the Grey Tufted Harper dining chairs. As much as I love our rustic looking vintage chairs, they are not comfortable in the least. Eventually we’ll replace them all with the Harper chairs. They’re beautiful and so comfortable. We tend to spend a lot of time relaxing and talking at our dining table, or playing cards & having drinks with friends, so comfort is important to us!
Our whole family is just in love with this space. Not only is it light and inviting but it’s a comfortable space to spend time in, to see each time we walk through the door and when we’re sitting down to eat a meal. I am beyond pleased with how it turned out and can’t wait to have friends and neighbors over to enjoy it with us!
How will you spruce up your space this fall? Maybe create a romantic setting with natural elements like I’ve done? Or will you go for something more urban, mid-century maybe? Or, will you will you simply add pops of color to your dining space?
