It’s Friday and that means another week down, another week closer to Christmas and another week closer to the end of the year.
We started last weekend off at the tree lighting in the village and dinner with friends. It was a great night, the kids got to see Santa arrive via firetruck and play with friends all evening.
Do you celebrate St Nick’s on Dec 5th? We never did until moving here. Everyone else seems to celebrate, so we decided that St Nick should visit our home too. This year he brought the kids practical gifts (the kids had been asking for new lunch containers), lunch containers and Christmas books. They were a hit!
The day we go out to cut our own Christmas tree is one of my very favorite days of the year. We had so much fun hiking through some hills, searching for a tall, thin tree. So much fun!
Success! We went for something taller and more narrow than we’ve had in past years. The kids were stoked and Cohen was super helpful in carrying it with it.
And when we went for tall, we apparently assumed that our ceilings were taller! The tree bent over a good 10-12 inches. Luckily, after chopping a bit off the bottom it looks great. I’m excited to share it with you sometime next week!
We took some time to get the outside of the house decorated too. This is Cohen’s first year in Cub Scouts, so we bought the live wreaths that his den was selling & I added bows to them. They’re so pretty and our basket hanging hooks came in handy for hanging them up. We added a bit of garland, some lights, a vintage sled with a pine swag and my Winter Owl Wreath and it’s perfect. I love our little home!
The Christmas decor is up and I’m thoroughly enjoying this time of year. Now, if only we had some snow on the ground. Fingers crossed, at least for Christmas day anyway.
